A Princetonians for Free Speech (PFS) writing fellowship offers students hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to build their portfolios. PFS puts our commitment to nonpartisanship and viewpoint diversity into practice through the students we hire. We believe there is no such thing as free speech for some but not for others. Students from all political backgrounds are encouraged to apply (read our op-ed from The 'Prince': PFS defends free speech for all).
Writing fellow applicants will apply via email to Angela Smith, PFS Executive Director (angela@princetonfs.org) by submitting a writing sample, resume, and cover letter outlining the candidate's interest in working with PFS.
Combine all three documents into ONE PDF in this order: 1) cover letter 2) resume and 3) writing sample.
Save the file as follows: "Firstname Lastname PFS Fall 2026 application".
The writing sample should be your original work written specifically for this application, on a topic of your choice, between 500-800 words.
Do NOT submit previously written academic papers.
Selected candidates will attend a panel interview with Angela Smith, Executive Director; Leslie Spencer, Vice Chair and Todd Rulon-Miller, President & CEO.
$1,000 per semester upon completion of three published articles
